12<\/strong>.10.2023 \u2013 Today, CMB.TECH and DBR announce their pioneering collaboration that will accelerate the decarbonisation of the maritime industry: the development of the first dual fuel hydrogen gensets for marine applications. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Collaboration<\/strong><\/p>\n

CMB.TECH and DBR are joining forces to take concrete steps in the decarbonisation of the maritime industry. DBR offers its expertise in reliable energy solutions for marine and offshore applications, and CMB.TECH focuses specifically on designing and building large marine and industrial applications that run on hydrogen or green ammonia.<\/p>\n

In this collaboration, DBR will be responsible for the construction and delivery of the dual fuel hydrogen gensets, specifically designed for marine applications.<\/p>\n

CMB.TECH provides the hydrogen technology, including the necessary components.<\/p>\n

Dual fuel hydrogen genset<\/strong><\/p>\n

The core of the dual fuel hydrogen genset is formed by the proven MAN V12-24l engine, which has been successfully used in previous collaborations between CMB.TECH and MAN Engines.<\/p>\n

The genset has a maximum output of 940kVA \/ 752 kWe at 60 Hz (1800 rpm) and can operate on diesel or in dual fuel mode where emission savings of up to 83% can be achieved. In a typical D2 duty cycle, 53% of diesel consumption and 12% of AdBlue consumption is saved, resulting in a significant reduction in CO\u2082 emissions. The genset is also available in 50Hz (1500rpm) which can deliver 822kVA of power.<\/p>\n

First order<\/strong><\/p>\n

Damen Shipyards, a global supplier of marine applications, has ordered the first three hydrogen gensets that will be operated on Windcat\u2019s CSOVs. The first vessel is already under construction at Damen Shipyards and the first dual fuel hydrogen genset will be installed in a separate engine room in the first quarter of 2024.<\/p>\n

Future potential<\/strong><\/p>\n

The cooperation between CMB.TECH and DBR will continue to develop and expand. The possibilities are considerable and, given the significant CO\u2082 reduction and ease of use, these dual fuel gensets will soon find their way to other ships and applications in the maritime industry.<\/p>\n
